Middle Schools

New Westminster School District recognizes that the needs of children between the ages of 10-13 are unique and specific. To better cater to these students, the school district has introduced the Middle School concept and now boasts three modern schools within the city. We are proud to announce the September 2016 opening of our newest middle school, Fraser River Middle School.

New Westminster Secondary School

New Westminster Secondary School (NWSS) offers outstanding opportunities for students of all backgrounds. As the sole high school in New Westminster, it is today home to close to 2,000 students in Grades 9-12, and is one of the largest high schools in British Columbia. Its facilities include: five computer labs, including ones for Internet and multimedia, four gymnasiums, a full-service cafeteria, a large sports field and a 1,260-seat professional theatre, along with specialized classrooms for sciences, art, music, technology and industrial arts.
